PostSubject: A380 Fuel Planning   Sun Mar 09, 2008 3:59 pm

Anybody have numbers for A380 fuel planning? Or better yet a fuel calculator with A380 presets? Guesses? Unless I'm missing it that info is not in the Wilco manual, and Google isn't coming through for me. Suspect Question

I could fill 'er up and test, but if someone has the info I'd appreciate it.

I don't trust any in FS. FS doesn't calculate correctly because the flight model and atmospheric conditions are not accurate. You can get in the ball park, but I would use the flight planner because it is based on the games calculations and the modelers desires. I would then add 45 minutes and 10 percent.

I then test per hour and have a fuel burn based on NM per hour. I am then as accurate as the game will allow me.

Thanks for that. I read somewhere the flight planner isn't very accurate, but it has to be a good place to start if it's taking fuel burn rates from the a/c files, right? scratch
Oh well. First flight is going to be a 7000 mile hop, so with a max range of 8000 miles, I can't screw up the fuel too much. I'll pack a parachute and a raft just in case. Idea

Vern,
at http://aerotexas.com, there are a few things including a 'fuel jabber'. It has an A380. I don't know how accurate it is. I usually use the one from FSX and then add a fudge factor. I haven't run out of gas yet. (Did have 67 gallons left on my flight from Frankfurt to Miami - enough to taxi to the gate and then some).

The burn in the flight planner will be close except where they have the numbers 200 percent higher. From what I've seen from other, they can keep it close if they use the 747 as the model. Most modelers, to include Wilco, is not going to have burn rates be the bottom-line on their software. They will get it close by using the 747 default as a model. Most are worried about eye candy and gauge functionality.

If this was digital aviation or PMDG, I would say they would be close. Smile
